  1. Bro can you please make one for MHRM IIT KGP program.

  2. Hey.
Sure I shall try and file to get details for this program of IIT KGP as well. Thanks :)

  3. 242 from EWS got selected and 241 got admit , is it possible ?

    1. Hey.
It was shocking for me as well. However, there is no chance of verification as this data has been directly provided by the institute itself by official means. Additionally hypothetically it can happen if too many candidates from the pool leave their offers. Though this assumption is too extreme I must say. Thanks :)

  4. Why they are leaving these NC-OBC , SC , ST seats vacant , they are wasting resources which can provide education to many students ? Around 70 obc seats are vacant despite of 514 candidates shortlisted for interview.
Could you please find out reasoning for this?

    1. Hey.
I can understand but see there might be multiple reasons. For instance many candidates fill up IIFT as a backup plan but might not actually be interested in the IB specialization. Some might have filled but got better opportunity. However, the biggest reason might be the exhaustion of the candidate pool. Though please note all of these are from my experiences over the years and we can never be sure of the reason. Thanks :)

    2. Sorry, but I have different view , As in case of OBC -NCL , 500 candidates are shortlisted and they had 129 seats still they offered only admission to 114 candidates ( including 45 waitlist) and if you have noticed that in shortlisting for interview composite score for ews and obc is same and also for final admission is also same. So, they just rejecting students despite having seats , it is not possible that only 114 candidates appeared for interview out of 500. They are just maintaining a criteria below which they are not ready to take students , whether they kept seats empty and waste taxpayer money

    3. Hey.
See the criteria maintenance that you are saying not only IIFT does it but many major B-Schools do it especially check IIT's. The reason being they cannot just fill in people who might not be able to cope with the curriculum, stress and work load and then later on might lead to issues. I have been through it during my initial phases and seen the situation first hand on how stress can impact you. So let me tell you it is good to not admit students with grades which are extremely low. It is absolutely fine to say that not everyone can be a topper however, there is not point in putting undue pressure on a candidate. Additionally, there is no point discussing this here as it isn't going to change anything and my blog is only used as the source to bring transparency in MBA in the country :)

    4. Brother, just one thing to point out here. What you said is absolutely spot on, that people won’t be able to handle pressure. But how come all of EWS people could score above their threshold? 99% is too bold a conversion rate. And if they would be so much concerned about the academic pressure they would not have offered to SC,ST,PWD candidates for whom the cut off is way lower (No offence intended). Also the conversion rate of interview for all except OBC is upwards of 40% approximately. There must be some anomaly for that. And this has been the case for 2 consecutive years.
Anyways, kudos to you for getting so much data. Not an easy task.

    5. Hey.
See for me leaving everything aside, major task is bringing these stats to the public which are not available easily. Rest since these are given by the institute itself there is no way I can challenge the institute. Also, thanks for your comment. :)

  5. Hello Ronit Sir,
First of all thank you for providing these stats. I have got PI call from IIFT, my CS for first round is 43.6 (EWS). Now in the second round i need , according to these stats, around 49+ marks to get admission.
out of which , i need 28/29+ marks from my GD PI & WAT (40 marks). I want to know is it possible to get these marks. For GD = 10 marks, WAT = 10 marks & PI = 20 marks.

I mean, in the past have you noticed where around 75% marks given by IIFT in GDPIWAT in general to students. Is it possible for me to get those numbers.

And I hope you will answer based on the facts only.

    1. Hey. Most welcome and congrats on getting the IIFT call :)
Now coming to the calculation which you have stated, getting 70 percent marks would not be much difficult if you have prepared well and give a decent confident interview. Plus also remember that composite scores changes every year. So the CS for one year might change another year. Thanks and All the Best. Just give your best :)

  6. What was the composite score calculation criteria in the previous year? Was it different from this year

    1. Hey.
I am sorry but I do not have the data for last year hence, it would be very difficult to know about what was the criteria for last year. But I would suggest filing an RTI to get this data officially. Thanks :)

    1. Hey Balu.
I can understand but the same is institute's call. And secondly, the institute did not provide me stats for the 2021-2023 batch hence sadly I do not have the same. Thanks :)

  8. Hi ronit,
The website is really helpful. Thanks for these transparent stats.
Do you have any data on mdi and spjimr as well ?

    1. Hi.
Most welcome and I am glad you found the website helpful.
I would have loved to provide the data related to MDI and SPJIMR, however sadly I can only provide data for public institutions. Since these are private there is no possibility to fetch the stated data. Thanks :)

  9. How come EWS students conversion rate of getting final offer of admission is so high? 241 out of 242 candidates were offered final offer of admission. With all due respect, you're doing a great work by providing us students insights. But the data for EWS looks fishy and is there any chance it's distorted or sometghgung like that?

    1. Hey.
I can understand and many candidates had the same question. However, the response is not just to RTI but first appeal too confirms the same from the institute. So there is no way we can actually reverify the data.

Also, thank you for your words and I am glad the blog is helping candidates in their MBA journey :)

  10. Sir iift Kolkata vs iim udaipur, what is your opinion ?

    1. Hey.
If you are also looking at going international in the future than IIM would be better. Anyways IIM Udaipur is doing exceptionally well and is ticking all the right boxes. However, if you are always staying in India then go for IIFT. Thanks and All the Best :)

    2. Thank you sir. I think the kind of exposure iift provide is very different from iims

    3. Hey.
Definitely the exposure and the experience provided by IIFT is vastly different then that at IIM's. So do make a wise call and go for the admission. Thanks :)

  11. I am waitlisted at EWS-26 for Delhi for the year 23-25. Do I have a realistic chance of getting selected for Delhi campus?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hey.
So EWS-26 in June seems a tad bit difficult to me. However, this can go other way as well since no one can say for sure. Thanks and All the Best :)

    2. In your estimation based on past data, what is a safe WL number for EWS category to convert Delhi campus from Kolkata campus?

      Delete
    3. Hey.
Yes my estimation is based on the data related to past few years, plus the higher no. of buffer calls given by most top institutes due to which their movements have slowed down and will eventually impact the movements in IIFT as well. Though as I have stated estimation is never 100 percent and can go other way. Thanks :)

  12. Hi Ronit,
My waitlist number for IIFT Delhi is 10 (General Category). Should I be hopeful for a convert?

    1. Hey.
I think at 10 you should have converted the Delhi campus by now or almost on the verge of conversion. Thanks and All the Best :)

  13. Hello sir, is there a chance to move from kolkata campus to delhi campus if waitlist is 154 in general category? Already qualified for kolkata campus.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hey.
Waitlist rank 154 seems a bit on the higher side as not a lot of candidates would be leaving the Delhi campus. Though congrats for converting the Kolkata campus and All the Best :)

  14. Hi,Ronit first of all great work you have been doing, secondly my wl for delhi was 23 under obc category now after fee payments it is wl 13 what do you think is the probability of me making it to IIFT Delhi

    1. Hi Ravi.
Thanks for your comments and I am glad you found the website helpful. Coming to your rank, as per my experience, you should get a fair enough shot at converting the Delhi campus by admission closure. Thanks and All the Best :)

    1. Hey.
As per my experience 25 waitlist at this stage could be slightly difficult since most of the institutes have already started. Do tell me though what happens. Thanks and All the Best :)

  16. Hi Ronit,
I have a wiating list of 28 under the General category at IIFT-Kolkata. Is there any chance of conversion as per your analysis?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hey.
A WL number of 28 in mid July seems difficult to convert since most colleges have already started and the admissions have almost closed down which would lead to a very slow waitlist movement. Though please note no one can be 100 percent sure. Thanks and All the Best :)
